Lebenia is a study app for the German citizenship test. It is built to work without collecting your personal data. This policy explains what happens to your data when you use the app.

The short version

• No account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
• Your study progress stays on your device.
• The app only goes online when you ask it to translate a saved word.

Data stored on your device

Your answers, progress, streak, settings, mistakes and saved words are stored only in the app's local storage on your phone. We have no server and never receive this data. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Your phone's own backup (iCloud on iPhone, Google backup on Android) may include the app's data, depending on your system settings. That backup is handled by Apple or Google under their privacy policies.

Online translation (optional)

When you ask for a translation of a word in your word list, the app sends that single word to the MyMemory translation service (Translated srl, Italy) over an encrypted connection and shows the result. No name, account or device ID is sent. Like any website, the service can see your IP address while it answers the request. See the MyMemory terms and the Translated privacy policy.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, because you request the translation.

Backups you create

If you export a backup, the app creates a file and opens your phone's share menu. You decide where the file goes (for example Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or AirDrop). We never receive it.

Reminders and pronunciation

Daily reminders are scheduled on your device and never pass through a server. Pronunciation uses the text-to-speech engine built into your phone.

Children

The app is meant for adults preparing for the citizenship test. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete and restrict processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to object to processing. Because we store no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to provide or delete, but you can always contact us at support@lebenia.app. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and change the date above.
